PB DAV MODEL SCHOOL, Old Safilguda, affiliated to AP State Education Board, to meet the needs of middle class and lower middle class children of Old Safilguda, came into existence in the year 2003 with a strength of 55 students and has now blossomed into a beautiful icon of learning focusing on the holistic development of the children who will be the responsible and better citizens of tomorrow.
The school curriculum starts with the assembly activities wherein every student is given an opportunity to bring out his/her hidden talent. Assembly activities includes laughing activity and meditation to build a sound mind and body. National festivals and important religious festivals are celebrated in the school to inculcate the feel of integrity among the students. To develop the competitive spirit, various inter house competitions are conducted as CCA activities wherein students get an opportunity to bring out the best in them. Every year our students participate in the Avanthika Drawing and coloring competition and secure prizes and medals. Subject exhibition comprising of all subjects is organized every year to enable the students to come out with their best academic exhibits.
Small deeds great thoughts. To bring about awareness about the importance of generosity, charity and social welfare activities, students are involved in these activities under the ‘Arya Yuva Samaj’ programme. Students bring a fistful of rice and dal and also liberally contribute in kind on all occasions including their birthdays which in turn are donated to Smile Foundation, Mothers Nest, Old Age Home, Leprosy colony. Students are also involved in welfare activities like gardening, cleaning of the campus, Vanamahotsav programme.
Havan is performed every Saturday in the school premises.Ethical Values combined with spirituality moulds the child into a disciplined and a very good human being.
It is pertinent to mention that the X Class (SSC Board) students have added laurels to the school by their exemplary performance with cent percent results. The effort of the students of 2013-14 batch has elevated the school to the III position in the south zone 1. The highest point being 9,8, with an overall aggregate of 8.8%.
Every year many of our students appear in various external examinations such as The Green Olympiad and Terra Quiz, Internal Assessment for Indian Schools, Science Olympiad Foundation, National Cyber Olympiad, Science Olympiad, International Maths Olympiad, International English Olympiad. PB DAVians participate in the Quiz competition conducted by K.V.Rao Scientific Society.Our students proved their excellence in spirituality as well by bagging prizes in the Bhagavat Geetha Sloka Recitation, Geetha Elocution, Sathaka Padyalu recitation, conducted by Geetha Prachar Samithi and Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
With a view to encourage competitive spirit and team work amongst the students of DAV, MAHATMA HANSRAJ YOUTH FESTIVAL is conducted every year. Our students took part in these events and won many prizes thus securing the fourth position in the south zone during the academic year 2011-12. Secured third position in the academic year 2013-14.
Learning is a continuous process. Every year various workshops - Early Child Education, Enhancement of Life Skills amongst Teenagers, Calligraphy workshop, Ramakrishna Mutt Teacher Enrichment Programme, are organized for teachers with a view to enable the upgradation of teaching techniques. Two teachers attended the Value Education Programme for Teachers conducted by Ramakrishna Mutt.
